The Aerith Gainsborough card in Magic: The Gathering plays into this, as she gains +1/+1 counters whenever the player gains life , and these are spread to Legendary Creatures when she dies
Its very similar to Friends on the Other Side, except its even cheaper to play, with only a small drawback discarding a card
